Here at Badock’s Wood, we work very closely with our pupils and their parents and carers to help them understand the importance of attending school on a regular basis. We know that having regular attendance not only helps a child with their mental and physical well-being but also helps them to achieve their full potential. If children do not attend school regularly they may:
- Struggle to keep up with school work and in a busy school day, it can be difficult for schools to find the extra time to help a child catch up.
- Miss out on the social side of school life and affect their ability to make and keep friendships.
Our attendance procedure
If your child is off for any consecutive days, a home visit may be conducted to check in and see if any additional support may be required to assist with a swift return to school. If we continue to be unsuccessful in making contact with you, we may use the resources of other local agencies such as our PCSO & Education Welfare Services etc.
We have a legal duty to any child on our roll to ensure their safety and well-being. Home visits help us ensure we are keeping contact with our pupils, identifying any issues that you may need support with and enabling re-integration back to school. We will always work within government guidelines and our school’s attendance policy.
As always we are here to support you and to work alongside you to ensure your child’s attendance remains a priority. If you have any worries or concerns regarding attendance or other school matters, please do make an appointment at the office to speak to our Attendance & Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Trenchard, where she will be more than happy to help.
